Geocorton: description, application and features

Geocortone is a combination medicinal product containing glucocorticosteroids, produced by the pharmacological company Pliva in Croatia. Geocortone is used in the treatment of various skin diseases.

The dosage form of Geocorton is an ointment. The main active ingredients are hydrocortisone and oxytetracycline. Hydrocortisone is a glucocorticosteroid that is used to reduce inflammation and itching of the skin in various skin conditions. Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic that is used to fight infectious skin diseases.

The use of Geocorton is recommended in cases of pyoderma, impetigo, cystic and exfoliative dermatitis of newborns, infected diaper rash, folliculitis, furunculosis, carbunculosis, erysipelas, infantile urticaria, allergic and seborrheic dermatitis, solar erythema, erythema multiforme, secondary bacterial infection in eczema, allergic and occupational dermatitis, insect bites, allergic and purulent diseases of the external auditory canal, varicose leg ulcers, burns, frostbite and skin lesions after radiation therapy.

There are contraindications to the use of Geocorton, including hypersensitivity to the drug, skin diseases of a viral, tuberculosis and fungal nature, and pregnancy. Side effects may include allergic reactions and the development of secondary infections.

The interaction of Geocorton with other drugs has not been studied. An overdose of Geocorton has not been described.

When using Geocorton, special precautions must be taken. It is necessary to avoid getting the ointment into the eyes and upper respiratory tract.
