Grapefruit

Citrus paradisi Macfauden

Grapefruit is a relatively young crop. Cultivated since the end of the 19th century. India is considered to be the birthplace of these juicy fruits. Grapefruit trees do not grow wild. It is believed that grapefruit appeared as a result of a mutation of pompelmus (pomelo), which is grown in South and Southeast Asia, or is a hybrid of orange and pompelmus. The production of grapefruit essential oil began in the USA, in the state of California, in 1933.

Grapefruit oil with a subtle orange aroma, notes of grass and bitterness is widely used in the food industry, perfumes, and cosmetics. The healing properties of grapefruit essential oil are similar to orange and lemon oils, but they also have their own unique characteristics.
