Folk remedies for narrowing pores on the face

Good day, my dear readers. Today we’ll talk about a very common cosmetic problem. In my youth I had quite problematic skin. Due to excess sebum and acne, the pores become large. I tried a lot of remedies to remove this flaw. And of course the result makes me happy now. In this article I have collected the best products for narrowing pores on the face. From salon treatments to creams and homemade masks.

Enlarged pores - why does this happen?

Most often, owners of oily or combination skin types face this problem. When too much sebum is produced, it accumulates in the pores, forming blackheads and comedones.

Large pores are formed for the following reasons:

  1. neglect of cleansing or its improper implementation;
  2. hormonal imbalance in the body;
  3. dehydration and sunburn;
  4. genetic predisposition;
  5. constant stress, poor diet;
  6. bad habits - smoking and drinking alcohol;
  7. low quality cheap cosmetics.

If nothing is done, wide pores will remain and spoil the appearance of your face. This deficiency most often affects the forehead, nose and chin.

As the cosmetologist told me: “Everything comes from within.” I recommend consulting with a gastroenterologist, and for girls with a gynecologist. Because skin problems often occur due to poor diet or hormonal imbalance.

The first thing you need to do is eliminate fast food, soda and sweets from your diet. An excess of sugar is immediately reflected on the face, especially when menstruation begins for us girls. These days I want to eat everything sweet. At the beginning of the menstrual cycle, I recommend increasing the amount of long-term carbohydrates, maybe 20 g of dark chocolate, frozen or fresh berries.

Homemade mask recipes

At home, you can make your own products that tighten pores and restore healthy skin. The effect of their use will be no worse than that of salon procedures or advertised creams. Almost everyone has the ingredients for such masks and scrubs at home. If not, you can easily find them at your local store.

You can alternate these masks with moisturizing masks. They will help get rid of flaking, skin tightness and redness. Do no more than 2 times a week.

ARTICLES ON THE TOPIC:

With clay

An effective folk remedy for the care of problem skin. You can buy it at a pharmacy or large supermarket, the price is pretty cheap. Clay reduces inflammation and heals, perfectly disinfects, and treats acne.

The easiest way to prepare a mask is to dilute a couple of tablespoons with warm boiled water to the consistency of rich sour cream.

I advise you to add a couple of drops of honey or milk to it. These are excellent natural moisturizing ingredients. Apply the mask over the entire face, avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave for 10-15 minutes. During this time, the clay should dry to a crust and lighten. Afterwards, rinse with warm water, wipe the skin with lotion and apply cream. The procedure should be repeated 2-3 times a week, but not more often than once every 2 days.

A recent cosmetic innovation is black clay. The mask comes off the skin, imitating the effect of strips from blackheads. Thanks to this, the contents of the pores remain on the inner surface of the mask.

With potatoes and lemon

Another good folk remedy for caring for problem skin. Raw potatoes are rich in many minerals and vitamins. They regulate the action of the sebaceous glands, narrow pores, heal microcracks and smooth out wrinkles, and eliminate age spots. Citric acid restores youth and elasticity to the dermis, making it healthy.

  1. 1 small potato,
  2. half a teaspoon of lemon juice,
  3. a couple of teaspoons of sour cream.

Raw potatoes are crushed. I usually use a plastic grater or blender. Then the remaining ingredients are added. All is applied to the face for 20 minutes, then washed off with water. Potato masks are universal, suitable for all skin types.

With aspirin

Acetylsalicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties. A mask with it perfectly tightens pores and normalizes sebum production. Rejuvenates, fights acne and inflammation.

Grind 4-5 aspirin tablets using a wooden mortar, add boiled water and liquid honey

The mask should become like a paste. If the skin is dry or sensitive, add olive, flaxseed or jojoba oil to the composition. The product should not be used more than 2 times a week, as it can thin and dry out the epidermis.

The product should remain on the skin for about 15 minutes. However, if you feel any discomfort, wash it off immediately. Reviews about this mask are different; it caused an allergic reaction in some girls.

With tea tree essential oil

This product has a unique composition of beneficial substances and has a wonderful effect on the skin. Restores complexion, elasticity of the dermis, heals, tones and refreshes. It is not recommended to apply it pure to the face - it may cause irritation.

There are several options for using it: add a few drops to face cream, mix with herbal decoction and make a compress. You can add a little oil to cottage cheese or sour cream and apply as a mask.

With honey and oatmeal

It has mattifying, cleansing and moisturizing properties at the same time. Evens out the microrelief of the skin, nourishes it at the cellular level, rejuvenates, tightens. Oatmeal is easy to make at home - just grind the oats in a coffee grinder. Honey is added to the flour; you can use heavy cream, milk or kefir. The mixture can be kept on the face for no more than half an hour and washed off with water without cleansers. This mask is absolutely safe, and it is better to make it in courses of 5-7 days.

Skin care with ice

Rubbing your face with ice cubes perfectly tightens pores and normalizes oil secretion. Prepare a decoction of chamomile, other beneficial herbs or green tea and freeze in ice cube trays. Wipe your face every morning and evening. This will ensure a rush of blood to the tissues and improve their nutrition. Ice instantly tones the skin, improves complexion and reduces pores.

The method has contraindications; carefully read the instructions for use and recipes. It also needs to be used in courses.

Effective cosmetic products

Basic care should include cleansing with foam or gel, toning and applying a moisturizer. Therefore, you need to use a line of products, and not just one tube of “magic” cream. There is no such thing, my dears :)

Choose products based on salicylic, glycolic acids, or lipo-hydroxy acids. I have selected pharmaceutical preparations for you that do not dry out your skin. And remember that all “pharmacy” cosmetics should be used only as a complement to the prescription of a dermatologist.

Of these products, I used Vichy and Efaklar. The Normaderm line from VICHY is more suitable for adult problem skin. And the Effaclar line from La-Roche-Posay is loved by dermatologists. It is suitable for young skin, but there are some positions for older skin. Many people still like the French brand Bioderma, but have not tried it.

Cream Normaderm against imperfections. Contains a unique complex of active ingredients with salicylic acid. Fights imperfections such as inflammation and acne, while moisturizing 24 hours a day. And this is especially necessary when using salicylic acid. Pores become smaller day after day and your face gains a healthy glow and smoothness.

3-in-1 cleanser. The combination of white clay, glycolic and salicylic acid provides comprehensive care for problematic and oily skin. The product can be used as a daily cleansing gel, scrub or mask. Simply apply it to your face with light massage movements and rinse with water. As a mask, leave the product applied for 5 minutes.

Cleanser 3 In 1, Vichy

Read more about this product in the article “Vichy Normaderm line for problem skin.” I use it 1-2 times a week. And I use it the next day after mechanical facial cleansing. A cosmetologist taught me this 🙂

Cream Effaclar Duo . Reduces imperfections and redness, preventing their reappearance. Moisturizes and mattifies the skin by regulating sebum production. Has a gentle exfoliating effect thanks to salicylic and lipo-hydroxy acid. The cream prevents the appearance of red and dark spots after inflammation. Lasts 24 hours and is an excellent base for makeup

In my youth, when I broke out, the dermatologist recommended using this remedy. Slightly dries out excessive sebum production and perfectly moisturizes. But this remedy was used in conjunction with medicinal agents.

Effaclar mattifying mask . The product visibly reduces pores and deeply cleanses of impurities and make-up. Contains 2 types of mineral clay, which absorbs excess sebum and normalizes its production. As a result, the skin is clean and matte for a long time. The mask does not contain parabens, suitable for all skin types. Use as an addition to basic products 1-2 times a week.

I also liked alginate masks. The result was visible immediately after the first use. The skin became more hydrated, and pores and redness were noticeably reduced. It is unusual, of course, to use such a mask - it is very plastic and hardens quickly. But it works great!

In addition to cleansing and toning, I use a hyaluronic acid serum on my face and eyelids in the morning. I recommend it to everyone, especially during the heating season, when the humidity in the room drops sharply. Even moisturizers don't help us.

Rating of salon procedures

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to narrow your pores with homemade masks alone. Such products work only in the upper layers of the epidermis, and do not reach the dermis at all. Most often, cosmetologists recommend the following procedures:

Mechanical facial cleansing. This procedure allows you to remove inflammation and sebaceous plugs that enlarge pores. Cleaning must be done periodically. Of course, this is a painful process, and it is not often recommended. First you need to remove large inflammations, and only then the masks will work. If you want to do the procedure at home, there is a device for ultrasonic facial cleansing.

Peeling. The specialist will select a chemical, milk, fruit, almond or salicylic peel for you, depending on your skin type. Salon products use a higher concentration of acids than home products. Therefore, they are highly effective and should be used under medical supervision. For example, the concentration of salon salicylic peeling is 30%, but in creams it is only 2%.

Plasmolifting. During the procedure, platelet-rich plasma is injected under the skin. It is taken from the patient's own blood. Thanks to the high content of vitamins, proteins and hormones, the effect of natural skin rejuvenation is triggered. This procedure helped me reduce acne marks.

Laser resurfacing. Based on the thermal effect of light on the epidermis. Its upper layers are destroyed and the process of skin regeneration begins. Afterwards it becomes elastic and smooth, its structure improves.

Facial cryomassage – effectively reduces pores and improves blood flow. Copes with comedones and age spots. Under the influence of cold, old cells are exfoliated, improving the renewal of the epidermis.

There is a large selection of cosmetic procedures. Therefore, I recommend that you choose a good cosmetologist in a specialized salon. The doctor will consult you and give recommendations for treatment.

Pores are ducts of the sebaceous glands that bring secretions to the surface of the skin, protecting it from external factors. While performing a protective function, they can lead to some cosmetic defects: blackheads, pimples and redness. Enlarged pores are a very unsightly sight, and also harmful to the health of the skin, because it literally stops breathing.

Causes of enlarged pores

The first thing to do is to find the cause of this condition. If the problem is not eliminated, then not a single, even the most effective, remedy will help level the terrain. There are many reasons for the appearance of enlarged pores:

  1. changes in hormonal levels during puberty, during pregnancy, when taking certain medications;
  2. disruption of the sebaceous glands;
  3. improper or insufficient care;
  4. use of decorative cosmetics;
  5. eating large amounts of sweet and fatty foods;
  6. influence of solar radiation;
  7. hereditary factor;
  8. age-related changes.

Do not use tightening agents if the pores are dirty. Cleaning is necessary, which is best done in a beauty salon. But you can use various pig-constricting masks at home.

Home care

Home care involves mandatory cleansing in the morning and evening. At the same time, cosmetic products must be selected according to your skin type: they should slightly dry, removing excess sebum, eliminating oily sheen. Care must be thorough, consistent and regular:

  1. Once a week, cleansing is carried out with a scrub or light peeling, which not only smoothes out the relief, but also improves blood circulation.
  2. A toning lotion after removing makeup will somewhat soothe and tighten the pores.
  3. You can wipe it with an ice cube once or twice a week - a kind of home cryotherapy.
  4. And, of course, masks that can be purchased in the store, but it is much more economical to make them yourself - it is not so difficult, and you can be sure of the composition.

Methods for narrowing pores

Most women prefer to use self-prepared products, which are more natural and economical. Traditional cosmetology offers many ways to narrow the pores on the face.

Lotions, tonics, compresses.

Homemade lotions are ordinary decoctions and infusions of herbs that are very effective in treatment. They not only wash their faces, make compresses, but also use them internally as tea. By cleansing the body, they act on the skin, making it smoother and healthier.

The most effective means are compresses. They not only narrow pores, but also nourish the skin and make it look healthy. The principle of applying a compress is the same for all types: moisten a soft cloth or gauze folded in several layers in the solution, squeeze lightly and apply to the face. A towel is placed on top to retain heat.

Rose hip decoction for dry mature skin with enlarged pores.

Pour two tablespoons of dried rose hips into a glass of boiling water and leave for half an hour. Wash your face with the resulting decoction in the morning and evening, and you can make a compress once a week. Ice cubes are prepared from the leftovers for home cryotherapy to tighten pores.

A decoction of chamomile, coltsfoot, lavender, nettle, thyme.

Herbs are effective both in mixtures, taken in equal proportions, and individually. Pour hot water (not boiling) and leave for a day in a dark place. After this, you can use them to prepare tonics, compresses, freeze ice cubes, and add them when preparing masks. After diluting the herbal infusions with warm water, drink at least two glasses a day.

Lemon compress for any skin type.

Lemon juice has an anti-inflammatory, whitening effect, dries, lightens blackheads and tightens pores. In addition, this is an excellent vitamin cocktail for the skin. Dissolve ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice in ½ cup warm water. Keep the compress for about 15 minutes.

Masks for cleansing pores.

Masks are the most effective way to tighten the pores on the skin of the face. You can wash off the mask not just with water, but with a prepared herbal decoction, and wipe with a tonic - purchased or prepared yourself. After using a mask to tighten pores, it is recommended to wipe your face with an ice cube made from a herbal decoction. This will help consolidate the result and tone the skin, increasing its elasticity.

White clay mask.

Dilute the clay with warm water to the consistency of thick sour cream, apply to previously cleansed skin. For oily skin, you can add 5 drops of lemon juice. Rinse off the mask with warm water after 20 minutes. Clay perfectly cleanses and tightens pores; lemon acts as an antiseptic while whitening the skin.

Tomato mask using a contrast wash.

Cut a small tomato into thin circles and spread it over your face so as to completely cover it. Keep for 20 minutes, then wash your face first with warm, then cool water.

Egg masks.

Another effective remedy for cleansing and tightening pores is eggs, which are used separately or in combination with other ingredients, only the white or together with the yolk. During drying, such masks strongly tighten the face, which is normal and should not be a concern.

A teaspoon of squeezed lemon juice.
White of one egg.

Beat the egg whites until light foam forms, add lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your face in a thin layer, and after drying, apply another layer. Repeat the procedure 3-4 times. After applying the last layer, leave the mask on your face for 10-15 minutes, rinse with warm water.

Apple-horseradish mask.

Chopped horseradish - on the tip of a knife.

Contraindications.
Horseradish in the mask can cause burning and itching. If these sensations are strong enough, you should immediately wash your face. It is not recommended for people with spider veins on the face; it is contraindicated in cases of severe rosacea.

Starch mask.

Action.
An excellent remedy for tightening pores, has an anti-inflammatory and whitening effect.

Compound.
Potato starch – 1 tbsp. l.
Blackcurrant juice – ¼ cup.

Application.
Dilute starch with currant juice to a mushy state, apply to face until dry. Rinse off the remaining mask with warm water.

Honey mask (Indian).

Action.
Honey is the best natural antioxidant and antiseptic; it perfectly dries the skin and tightens the pores of the face.

Compound.
Natural honey – 2 tbsp. l.
Fine salt - on the tip of a knife.
Starch – 1 tsp.
Warm milk – ¼ cup.

Application.
Mix the ingredients until a thick mixture is obtained. A mask that is too thick can be diluted with milk, and a thin mask with starch. Mix everything thoroughly, apply a thick layer to your face and wash off after half an hour.

General recommendations

The question of how to narrow the pores on the face does not require much time and effort; it is enough to follow some care recommendations:

  1. You should not take hot baths, visit saunas, or wash your face with hot water. Warm water or herbal infusion is quite capable of cleaning pores.
  2. You cannot carry out mechanical cleaning yourself (that is, simply squeezing out pimples).
  3. Oily skin often suffers from dehydration, so wiping it with alcohol-containing solutions is unacceptable: they visually narrow the pores, but greatly dry out the epidermis.
  4. You should not use soap, as it promotes moisture loss; it is better to give preference to soft foams and gels.
  5. Skin cream should not clog pores, contain talc and all kinds of fragrances. It is better to choose a deeply moisturizing mattifying gel with sunscreen filters.

If you have had oily, porous skin from a very young age since the onset of puberty, do not despair and do not reproach nature for not rewarding you with velvety peach cheeks.

In fact, if you look from a different point of view, nature has prepared a surprise for you, the meaning of which will only become clear over the years. Oily skin is very little susceptible to age-related changes, and it will be riddled with wrinkles and folds much later than thin, delicate, so-called “porcelain” skin.

And yet, despite this prospect, enlarged pores are certainly a cosmetic defect that you definitely want to get rid of. Moreover, they have the nasty property of becoming clogged and inflamed at the most inopportune moment. And hi! – acne.

The topic can be developed up to examples of serious skin diseases that “started” from enlarged pores. But let's not scare anyone. Moreover, enlarged pores can be easily dealt with even at home.

The main reasons for the appearance of enlarged pores

It would be useful to know that the cause of the appearance of enlarged pores can be not only a natural feature of the skin. Sometimes this problem happens to both dry and normal skin after prolonged exposure to the sun. In these cases, sunscreens only make the situation worse, and to begin with, the problem will have to be solved by reducing walks on sunny days. Hats with wide brims that obscure the face, contrary to popular advice, will not save the situation.

The condition of the skin also worsens as a result of the use of cosmetics of dubious origin. Some suspiciously inexpensive gel or cream-powder for toning, low-quality blush will quickly “organize” your enlarged pores. It happens that the expansion of pores on the face is provoked by proven nourishing creams and masks - this depends on the individual intolerance of the components included in these products.

And sometimes the appearance of enlarged pores is a signal from the body that there has been a failure at the hormonal level and it is necessary to urgently run to the doctor to find out what exactly “went wrong”. If necessary, the doctor will prescribe special treatment to stabilize hormonal levels.
