A throat abscess is an infection and inflammation of the tissue surrounding the throat, usually caused by an infection of the ENT organs or an infection of the tonsils located in the throat. Most often, an abscess occurs in people with chronic diseases of the respiratory system, such as chronic bronchitis or chronic pharyngitis. A pharynx abscess can cause the following symptoms: 1. Pain when swallowing and a feeling of heat in the throat. 2. Dull pain in the neck and jaw that may spread to the ear, eye or tooth.
