Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin)

Action. Anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic.

Indications. Rheumatism, headache, toothache, myalgia, neuralgia, feverish conditions, thrombophlebitis, prevention of myocardial infarction.

Directions for use and dosage. The drug is taken orally after meals. The tablet is crushed and washed down with plenty of liquid, preferably milk. Adults are prescribed 0.3-1 g per dose up to a maximum daily dose of 4 g. Children in a daily dose depending on age:

  1. up to 30 months - 0.025-0.05 g
  2. from 2 years to 4 years - 0.2-0.8 g
  3. from 4 years to 10 years - up to 1 g
  4. from 10 years to 15 years - 0.5-1.5 g.

The daily dose is divided into several doses.

Side effects. Dyspepsia, stomach bleeding, tinnitus, hearing loss, allergic reactions.

Contraindications. Stomach and duodenal ulcers, bleeding tendency, gout, kidney disease, pregnancy.

Release form. Tablets 0.25; 0.5 and 0.1 g. Abroad, aspirin is produced in the form of soluble tablets.
