Actilyse: description, application and side effects

Actilyse is a pharmacological agent belonging to the group of fibrinolytic drugs. It is used to treat myocardial infarction and acute massive pulmonary embolism. The drug is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany and has the international name alteplase.

Actilyse is available as a lyophilized powder for the preparation of an injection solution containing 50 mg of the active substance, alteplase. The drug must be administered intravenously.

Indications for the use of Actilyse are myocardial infarction that occurs in the first 6-12 hours after the onset of symptoms, and acute massive pulmonary embolism.
