Acataphasia

*Akataphasia is* a disorder in which a person has difficulty remembering and recalling words while speaking. These disorders usually have a cause in the brain, and are caused by a disturbance in language learning or use. There are two main types of the disorder - verbal akataphasia and alligraphy.

In the case of **verbal akataphasia**, the person experiences significant difficulty producing verbal sounds, but can understand the words he speaks. This disorder may occur due to damage to the back part of the cerebral cortex, where the part of the brain cells that regulates speech is located. It sometimes requires surgery

Akataphasia (from ancient Greek ἀ- “not, without” + Latin catapháse - “statement, statement”) is a state of impaired ability to speak and think, leading to incoherent speech while maintaining the ability to understand what is said. Research suggests that this problem may be due to a disruption in the process of producing words to form a complete sentence in the patient's brain. Akataphasia usually affects older people.

The causes of disorders in this disease may be the following: - traumatic brain injury - any damage to the brain stem - concussion

The following manifestations can be called symptoms of akataphasia: with damage to the cortex in the left frontal lobe, the order of words in a sentence is disrupted; If there is damage in the right lobe, the grammatical structure of the utterance suffers. A patient suffering from akataphase may forget the beginning of his thought and omit the end of a phrase, thereby violating the integrity of the statement. He is unable to remember the actual word that needs to be used to complete the sentence. Patients with akataphasia have difficulty forming phrases and changing already formed ones. At the same time, a neurologist, based on their speech, can assume the presence of disorders of a person’s brain centers, and the patient is also confused by the mistakes of other people, which only he himself can explain, so when assessing the world around him, he does it according to his own rules, which other people around him can't understand.
