Alexan

Alexan is an antitumor drug, an antimetabolite from the group of pyrimidine analogues.

Produced in Germany by Heinrich Mack Heir and in Austria by Ebewe Pharma GmbH.

International nonproprietary name - Cytarabine.

Available as a solution for injection in ampoules of 2, 5, 10 and 20 ml.

Indicated for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma. It has a cytotoxic effect by inhibiting DNA synthesis.

Contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity, infections, liver and kidney dysfunction.

Side effects - bone marrow suppression, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions.

Increases the toxicity of methotrexate.

An overdose is dangerous due to the development of irreversible damage to the central nervous system.

It is used intravenously, the dose depends on the indications and treatment regimen. Requires regular monitoring of the blood picture.
