Anquin

Anquin: an effective antimicrobial drug

Anquin (Norfloxacin) is an antimicrobial drug belonging to the fluoroquinolones. It is produced in India by the pharmaceutical group Laika Labs Ltd. and is used to treat various infections of the urinary tract, genitals, gastrointestinal tract and eyes. The drug can also be used to prevent infections in patients with granulocytopenia.

Anquin is available as film-coated tablets in strengths of 400 mg and 800 mg. Its active component is norfloxacin.

Indications for the use of Anquin include urinary tract infections (cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, uncomplicated gonorrhea), genital organs (prostatitis, endometritis, cervicitis), gastrointestinal infections (salmonellosis, shigellosis, travelers' diarrhea), eyes and prevention of infections in patients with granulocytopenia.

However, before using the drug, you must ensure that there are no contraindications, such as hypersensitivity, end-stage chronic renal failure, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, pregnancy, lactation, children and adolescence under 15 years of age.

Like any medicine, Anquin may cause side effects. Among them may be dyspeptic syndrome (anorexia, nausea, vomiting, bitterness in the mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhea), dysfunction of the urinary system (glomerulonephritis, dysuria, polyuria, proteinuria, urethral bleeding, etc.), central nervous system ( headache, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, fainting), cardiovascular system (heart rhythm disturbances, arterial hypotension), visual organs (burning and pain in the eye, conjunctival hyperemia, chemosis, photophobia), musculoskeletal system (tendinitis, ruptures tendons, arthralgia), vasculitis, pseudomembranous colitis, dysbacteriosis, candidiasis, Steven-Johnson syndrome, leukopenia, eosinophilia, decreased hematocrit, transient increase in liver enzymes in the blood serum, allergic reactions (itching, urticaria, edema).

When using Anquin, it is necessary to take into account possible interactions with other drugs. For example, the use of Anquin simultaneously with theophylline or cyclosporine may increase the concentration of these drugs in the blood, which can lead to toxic effects. It is also not recommended to use Anquin simultaneously with antiacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as well as with preparations containing iron, zinc or vitamins containing metals, as they may reduce the effectiveness of Anquin.

Before using Anquin, you should consult your doctor and strictly follow his instructions. It is not recommended to exceed the recommended dose and duration of treatment. If you experience side effects, you should contact your doctor immediately.
