Aortic Insufficiency

Aortic regurgitation (AV regurgitation) is a condition in which the aortic valve does not close enough and some of the blood from the aorta flows back into the left atrium, bypassing the heart. AV insufficiency can be organic or functional, secondary to heart disease and endocarditis, and without an apparent cause.
