Aspermatism Psychogenic

Psychogenic aspermatism is a form of male infertility in which the absence or sharp decrease in the number of sperm in the ejaculate is due to psychological reasons.

Reasons for development:

  1. Mental trauma, stress
  2. Depression, anxiety disorders
  3. Conflicts in the family
  4. Sexual disorders (erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation)

Diagnosis is based on excluding organic causes of infertility and identifying psychological factors.

The treatment is complex with the participation of a psychotherapist and sexologist. Includes psychotherapy, correction of emotional disorders, treatment of concomitant sexual disorders. The prognosis is favorable with adequate therapy.

In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the development of psychogenic disorders of sexual function in men.

The spread of such disorders is explained by the increasing demands of society on men in modern conditions. This often gives him a feeling of inadequacy and leads to various neurotic and depressive reactions. Such negative experiences cause weakening of erection and even its absence during sexual intercourse. The reasons for the development of psychogenic dysfunction of sexual function are excessively high demands on oneself and assessment of one’s capabilities. Such a person must constantly meet the highest requirements. Also, an important role can be played by the situation in the family, in which a young person develops into too much stress.
