Composition - Active ingredient - astemizole.

Indications for use:

  1. Allergic rhinitis
  2. Allergic conjunctivitis
  3. Allergic skin reactions (chronic idiopathic urticaria, etc.)
  4. Itchy skin
  5. Angioedema (treatment and prevention)
  6. Bronchial asthma (auxiliary therapy)

Contraindications:

  1. Hypersensitivity
  2. Pregnancy
  3. Lactation
  4. Early childhood (up to 2 years)
  5. Prolongation of the QT interval on the ECG
  6. Hypokalemia
  7. Severe liver dysfunction

Side effect:

  1. From the nervous system and sensory organs: weakness, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness, mood disorders, insomnia, nightmares, paresthesia, convulsions, depression, conjunctivitis.
  2. From the cardiovascular system: hypotension, palpitations, ventricular arrhythmias, hematopoietic disorders.
  3. From the gastrointestinal tract: dry mouth, increased appetite, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, increased activity of liver transaminases, hepatitis.
  4. Allergic reactions: rash, itching, angioedema, bronchospasm, anaphylactoid reactions.
  5. Other: photosensitivity, weight gain, myalgia, arthralgia, pharyngitis.

Interaction:

  1. It is not recommended to combine with antifungals, macrolides, metronidazole, quinine, mibefradil, HIV protease inhibitors, serotonin reuptake inhibitors, and drugs that prolong the QT interval.
  2. May mask the ototoxic effects of other drugs.
  3. Increases the side effects of photosensitizing agents.

Overdose:

  1. Ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, seizures, cardiac or respiratory arrest.
  2. Treatment: gastric lavage, activated charcoal, laxatives, ECG monitoring, symptomatic therapy.

Special instructions:

  1. Not recommended with grapefruit juice.
  2. Use caution in patients with kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, and in patients receiving non-potassium-sparing diuretics.
  3. Warn patients with lower respiratory tract diseases about the potential anticholinergic effects.
  4. It is recommended to discontinue use 4 weeks before skin testing for allergens.
