Atheromendarterectomy

Atheromendarthrectomy is a surgery performed to remove hard growths known as atheromas located under the skin. It involves removing the atheroma through a small incision, removing its capsule and closing the wound.

Atheroma is a hard formation containing a mixture of dead skin cells, fat and other substances that can form on the skin in the head, neck, shoulders, etc. It is a common formation found in many people. When atheroma occurs, it can begin to grow and become painful. Atheromas are removed by various methods, including curettage, excision, surgical removal, etc. However, one of the most difficult cases to treat is atheroma located near an artery or other important blood vessels in the body. In this case, certain tactics and experience of the surgeon are required to prevent damage to the arteries and prevent relapse.

Endarterectomy is a method of surgical (radical) treatment of certain diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiology, angiology). The main goal of the operation is to eliminate or reduce the significance of atherosclerotic lesions of the narrowed or affected segment of the artery (urgent or planned).

Thus, when removing atheroma, the surgeon must be sure that the trunk or arteries located in nearby areas are not damaged. Moreover, it is necessary to remove all components of the atheroma (the capsule itself, surrounding tissue and fat) and restore the circulatory system and skin to anatomical integrity. Special instruments and approaches are often required to minimize the risk of complications and perform the procedure safely and successfully.
