Basophilia

Basophilia is a pathological condition characterized by an increased content of basophils in the blood.

Basophils are a type of leukocyte (white blood cell) that play an important role in the immune system. Normally, basophils make up less than 1% of all leukocytes in the blood.

With basophilia their number exceeds 2-3%. This may be a sign of various diseases and pathological conditions:

  1. Allergic reactions (bronchial asthma, urticaria, anaphylactic shock)

  2. Chronic myeloproliferative diseases (chronic myeloid leukemia, polycythemia vera)

  3. Infectious diseases (tuberculosis, syphilis, meningitis)

  4. Malignant neoplasms of lymphoid and myeloid tissue

  5. Thyroid diseases

  6. Cirrhosis of the liver

Diagnosis of basophilia is carried out by calculating the leukocyte formula in a general blood test.

Treatment consists of treating the underlying disease that caused the increase in basophil levels. The prognosis depends on the cause of basophilia and the effectiveness of treatment. With timely diagnosis and adequate treatment, basophilia is usually reversible.

Basophils are blood cells that play an important role in the immune system. They can be found in the bloodstream, where they function to protect the body from infections and other pathogenic factors. However, some people may have elevated levels of basophils in their blood, which may indicate the presence of certain diseases.

Basophilia is a term used to describe increased levels of basophils in the blood. This indicator can be useful in diagnosing certain diseases, such as allergic reactions, autoimmune diseases, cancer and others.

To determine the level of basophils, it is necessary to conduct a blood test. This can be done both as part of a preventive examination and for other reasons, for example, if allergies or other diseases are suspected.

If basophil levels are elevated, this may indicate that the body is in a state of inflammation or an allergic reaction. In this case, you need to consult a doctor for more detailed diagnosis and treatment.

It is important to note that basophilia is not a diagnosis in itself, but only indicates the possible presence of a disease. To accurately determine the diagnosis, it is necessary to conduct additional research and consultation with a doctor.
