Bismofalk: description, indications for use and side effects
Bismofalk is a drug that is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis in the acute phase and gastralgia. The drug is manufactured by Dr. Falk Pharma GmbH in Germany and belongs to the group of antiulcer drugs.
Bismofalk contains bismuth subnitrate and bismuth subgallate. Each tablet of the drug contains 50 mg of bismuth subgallate and 100 mg of bismuth subnitrate.
The drug has several contraindications. It should not be taken in case of severe renal failure, during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in childhood and adolescence.
A side effect of the drug is increased stool frequency. It should also be taken into account that Bismofalk reduces the absorption of tetracycline, which may lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of this antibiotic.
There is no data on an overdose of Bismofalk, however, when taking the drug in large doses, increased side effects may occur.
A special feature of Bismofalk is that it colors stool black, which is not a sign of any health problems.
