Bowman's Glands

Bowman's ring (lat. anulus bówenii) is a ring-shaped structure, which is a pronounced expanded part of the common bladder, formed by collapse or retraction (narrowing) of the external longitudinal sphincter prolapsed into the urethra and its lower retaining muscles. The Bowman ring prevents the excretion of urine and is an etiological factor in urinary dysfunction (incontinence).
