Delirium of Impoverishment

Delirium of impoverishment is a mental status characteristic of delusional syndrome, according to which the individual or his former money or valuables have now been taken and appropriated in large quantities by the people around him.

The word “delirium” itself comes from the Old Slavonic “brede”, which meant water for drinking. The term was used in the Middle Ages with some modern background - an alcoholic drink in the form of vodka. As a result, the meaning of the term has come down to our time as “deception”, and thus was transformed into another synonym.

Syn. b. impoverishment. Typically not previously familiar with poverty
