Bronchus Segmental

Segmental bronchus

Segmental bronchus is a part of the trachea or bronchial tree, which has the shape of a segment and provides ventilation to a certain area of the lung.

Segmental bronchi are part of the respiratory system; they provide oxygen to the lungs and remove carbon dioxide from the body.

Normally, a person has 10 pairs of bronchi segments, which are divided into three orders: main, intermediate and small, or bronchioles. Each segment has its own diameter and length, allowing you to regulate air flow and ensure optimal breathing.

In pathology, for example, with bronchitis or pneumonia, the segmental bronchi can be affected and cause breathing problems. This can lead to the development of hypoxia, which can cause serious health consequences.

Various techniques are used to diagnose segmental bronchi, including radiography, computed tomography, and bronchoscopy. Treatment for segmental bronchi may include antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and surgery.
