Burger's Symptom

Buerger's symptom is a lesion of the vessels of the lower extremities, manifested by occlusion and thrombosis of the arteries of the foot and leg.

This disease was first described by the Austrian pathologist Leo Burger in 1908. It is more common in men aged 20-40 years, especially smokers.

The main symptoms of Burger:

  1. Pain in the feet and calves when walking that goes away with rest (intermittent claudication)

  2. Coldness and numbness of the feet

  3. Change in skin color of the foot - bluishness, pallor

  4. The appearance of ulcers on the feet that are difficult to treat

  5. No ripple
