Kalmopirol: Anti-inflammatory drug from Greece

Calmopirol, also known by its international name piroxicam, is an anti-inflammatory drug belonging to the oxicam group. It is widely used to treat various inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints and spine, accompanied by pain. Calmopirol is available in the form of capsules containing 20 mg of the active substance - piroxicam.

The drug is produced by the Greek pharmaceutical company Faran Laboratories. In addition, Calmopirol is available in the market under various synonyms, including Apo-Piroxicam, Breksik-DT, Gen-Piroxicam, Movon, Novo-Pirocam, Pirikam, Pirocam, Pirox, Piroxicam, Piroxicam 10 Stada International Tab, Piroxicam 20 Stada International Tab, Piroxicam-Acri, Piroxicam-Altpharm, Piroxicam-Yenapharm and Piroxicam-Rati.

Calmopirol is effective for rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew's disease), osteoarthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, tendinitis, tendovaginitis, brachial syndrome, glenohumeral periarthritis, acute attacks of gout and other pain syndromes of various origins. It can also be used to relieve pain and swelling in joints, tendons and muscles caused by overexertion and other factors, as well as to treat acute infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

However, there are some contraindications to the use of Calmopirol. It is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or other anti-inflammatory non-steroidal drugs (NSAIDs), erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, aspirin-induced asthma, serious impairment of liver and/or kidney function, hemorrhagic diathesis, blood changes of unknown origin, inflammatory changes or bleeding in the rectum and anus. The drug is also contraindicated during pregnancy, lactation and in children and adolescents (injection solution is not recommended under 18 years of age gel, ointment, suppositories are not recommended under 12 years of age).

When using Calmopirol, undesirable effects may occur, including dyspeptic disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia), dizziness, headache, drowsiness, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria), edema, increased blood pressure, anemia, changes in liver function and kidneys. If any unwanted effects occur, you should consult your doctor.
