Chlorine

The chemical element called chlorine is formed by combining two other elements - hydrogen and sulfur. It is also found in water from saline solutions or underground. Its chemical formula is Cl₂, the molecule consists of 86.5% chlorine and 7.8% oxygen. The name of the element literally translates as “green”. Due to its pronounced odor and toxic effect (chlorine affects and affects almost all living things), it is a poison that is not capable of decomposition in nature and has a detrimental effect on organic matter and biology.

Chemists (among them such a famous one as Borshchevsky), trainees taking part in the water purification procedure, were poisoned with chlorine.

In most cases, chlorine is used in industries that purify water, gas and other media. It is also used to produce bleaches, disinfectants and more. However, besides its industrial use, it can also be hazardous to human health.

Contact with chlorine can cause lung burns and other serious health consequences. In addition, it destroys many objects and materials. If you handle this chemical, you must take all precautions to avoid negative consequences.
