Chronic lymphocytic cholangitis is a chronic inflammatory process in the liver, the cause of which has not been established or the mechanism of its occurrence is not clear. The classification of HL is as complex as the evidence base for its formation is poorly represented. The most common types of chronic lymphocytic cholangitis are: HIV-associated, secondary cryptogenic and primary cryptogenic lymphatic cholangitis. All these diseases have in common an elevated level of β-hCG, which allows them to be considered in most cases as immune-related diseases.
