Citronella grass
Cereals - Roasae (Gramineae). Pharmacy name: citronella oil - Citronellae aetheroleum (formerly: Oleum Citronellae).
Botanical description.
A tall cereal with a strong aromatic odor. Grown in Southeast Asia and the West Indies.
Active ingredients.
Essential oil consists of a wide variety of substances. Geraniol and citronellal predominate.
Application.
Citronella oil, like all essential oils, acts as a disinfectant and mild stimulant. It is included in various rubs for rheumatism; it is added to lemon balm tincture.
