French surgeon Cloquet Grucke (1790–1881) - born in France. He was one of the first doctors to use anesthesia during operations. He also invented a device for measuring blood pressure in arteries. However, Cloquet's greatest fame came from his work on the anatomical structure of the knee joint. In 1859, Cloquet described a new form of injury to the knee ligament apparatus, which was later named after him - ACL rupture. Along with leading rheumatologist E.A. Stern, Cloquet is the only scientist who was twice awarded the Legion of Honor.

It was he who was in charge of the collection of skeletons found in New York in the 40s of the 20th century.
