Cordipin-Retard: description, application and side effects

Cordipin-Retard is a drug belonging to the group of calcium channel blockers of the dihydropyridine group. Its international name is nifedipine. Kordipin-Retard is produced in Slovenia by Krka d.d./Vector Slovenia. The drug is available in the form of film-coated tablets, retard tablets and delayed-release tablets containing 20 mg of the active substance - nifedipine.

Cordipin-Retard is used in the treatment of arterial hypertension, including hypertensive crisis, prevention of angina attacks (including Prinzmetal's angina), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Raynaud's disease, pulmonary hypertension and broncho-obstructive syndrome. It works by reducing tension in the walls of blood vessels, which leads to lower blood pressure and improved circulation.

Despite the effectiveness of Kordipin-Retard, it has a number of contraindications and restrictions for use. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity to nifedipine, acute myocardial infarction (first 8 days), cardiogenic shock, severe aortic stenosis, heart failure in the stage of decompensation, severe arterial hypotension, tachycardia, pregnancy and breastfeeding. You should also refrain from using the drug in pediatric practice, since the safety and effectiveness of its use in children have not been determined.

Cordipin-Retard may cause unwanted side effects. They can manifest themselves in the cardiovascular system and blood, nervous system and sensory organs, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system and musculoskeletal system. These include facial flushing with a feeling of heat, palpitations, tachycardia, hypotension (up to fainting), angina-like pain, dizziness, headache, stunnedness, changes in visual perception, impaired sensitivity in the arms and legs, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, hyperplasia gums (with long-term treatment), increased activity of liver transaminases, bronchospasm, myalgia, tremor, allergic reactions, swelling and redness of the hands and feet, photodermatitis, hypercaloric reactions, etc. At the first sign of side effects, you should consult a doctor.

Cordipin-Retard should not be taken with alcohol, as well as with some other medications, such as protease inhibitors, macrolide antibiotics, antifungal drugs, antihypertensive drugs, antiserotonin drugs, etc. Before starting treatment, be sure to consult with your doctor and report all medications you are taking. medications.
