Degio was born in Germany in 1851. In 1873 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Heidelberg. After graduating from university, he worked in various medical institutions, where he researched infectious diseases.
In 1889, Degio moved to Russia, where he began working at Moscow University. There he continued his research into infectious diseases and also developed new treatments.
One of Degio's most famous studies was the study of tuberculosis. He developed a new method for diagnosing tuberculosis, which was based on the examination of the patient's sputum. This method became very popular and was widely used in Russia and other countries.
