Deperzolon: a powerful agent with glucocorticosteroid activity

Deperzolon is a pharmacological agent produced in Hungary by the company Gedeon Richter and packaged by Sotex PharmFirma. It belongs to a group of drugs with glucocorticosteroid activity and is used to treat a wide range of diseases. The international name of the drug is Mazipredone.

Deperzolone is available in several dosage forms, including an ointment containing 0.25% active substance, as well as a solution for intravenous and intramuscular administration with a concentration of 30 mg/ml. These different forms of the drug allow you to choose the most appropriate method of administration depending on the nature of the disease.

Deperzolon has a wide range of indications for use. It is effective for anaphylactic reactions, severe bronchial asthma, various types of shock, acute adrenal insufficiency, intoxication due to infectious diseases, hepatic coma and other conditions. The drug is also used for various dermatological diseases, including eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, etc.

However, like any powerful medicine, Deperzolon has contraindications and limitations for use. Contraindications include peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum in the acute phase, Itsenko-Cushing syndrome, diabetes mellitus in the stage of decompensation, severe osteoporosis, mental disorders, pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as the presence of bacterial, viral or fungal skin lesions.

Moreover, there are restrictions on the use of Deperzolone in the case of acute infectious diseases, tuberculosis, decompensated liver cirrhosis with portal hypertension syndrome, severe arterial hypertension, heart failure and end-stage renal failure with renal osteodystrophy syndrome.

The use of Deperzolone may cause some side effects. These may include arterial hypertension, vasculitis, steroid diabetes, glycosuria, steroid cataracts, myopathy, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, sleep disorders, psychoses, obesity, atrophy of the adrenal cortex and others.

It is also important to take into account possible drug interactions, since it can cause withdrawal symptoms if its use is abruptly stopped after a long course.

Deperzolon should be used only as prescribed by a doctor, who will determine the dosage and duration of treatment depending on the nature of the disease and the individual characteristics of the patient. Self-medication or changing the dosage without consulting a doctor is not recommended.
