Dermatol: application and properties

Dermatol is a drug belonging to the group of astringent, enveloping and antacid drugs based on bismuth. It is produced in Russia by the company ICN Leksredstva and contains the active substance - bismuth subgallate.

Dosage forms of Dermatol are presented in the form of a substance of various volumes - 50 g, 200 g, 500 g, 1 kg. The drug is used to treat inflammatory diseases of the skin and mucous membranes that are accompanied by exudation, such as ulcers, dermatitis, eczema, hemorrhoids and genital warts. Dermatol is also used to treat ulcerative colitis and diarrhea.

Contraindications to the use of Dermatol include hypersensitivity to the active substance. When using the drug, allergic reactions may occur.

The interaction of Dermatol with other drugs has not been studied.

With chronic intoxication with Dermatol, the following side effects may occur: gastrointestinal disorders, fever, rash, stomatitis, nephritis and nephrosis. In case of an overdose of the drug, a dark border near the gums can be observed. For the treatment of overdose, it is recommended to use dimercaptol or other sulfhydryl compounds.
