Linear dermatosis or linear dermatopathy is a skin lesion that is localized in the center of the face and head, often leaving a red dashed line (striatum) across the affected areas, up to the temples. In rare cases, this rash can spread over the entire head. Linear dermatoses most often occur in children and adolescents aged 7-15 years. As a rule, these manifestations go away on their own and do not require treatment. The causes of linear dermatosis are not fully understood. It is believed that this is a congenital feature of the skin that does not require intervention or treatment. However, if the spots are very irritating, then doctors may recommend the use of topical anti-inflammatory drugs without harm to health. When diagnosing linear dermatoses, a dermatologist or dermatologist-allergist usually examines the patient under a magnifying glass and performs the necessary laboratory tests.
