Diastema True

Diastema, or true diastema (Latin diastema “gap”), is a small incision along the midline of the upper jaw, located at the intersection of the orthodontic incisor and the upper buttress line (open angle). The length of the true diastema is from 4 to 8 mm. This pathology is determined exclusively visually by retracting the upper lip. It does not interfere with speech if the opposite rows of teeth are closed by the cutting-tubercular surfaces. However, if a chip occurs while moving the jaw, the patient will experience discomfort.
