Diathermoexcision of the cervix

Diathermoexcisio cervicis uteri (diathermoexcisio cervicis uteri) is a surgical operation to remove dysplastic changes on the cervix using high-frequency electric current.

During diathermoexcision, pathologically altered tissue of the cervix is excised, followed by healing of the wound surface. This procedure removes precancerous and cancerous cells and prevents further development of the disease.

The operation is performed under anesthesia using a special surgical instrument - a diathermocoagulator. It simultaneously cuts tissue and coagulates it to stop bleeding.

Diathermoexcision is used for cervical dysplasia of varying severity, erosions, leukoplakia and other diseases. This is an effective treatment method that allows you to preserve a woman’s reproductive function.

Diathermoexhizion of the cervix

Diathermoexcision is a method of surgical removal (cutting out with a scalpel) of certain areas of the cervix. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in the gynecological department or in the operating unit of a gynecological hospital. Most often used to remove the cervical mucosa after taking a smear before treatment of the cervix, polypectomy (removal of polyps), but can also be performed in other cases.

Each type of removed lesion has its own history of success and failure of the operation, which will depend on the indications for this method. Typically, such operations are performed under general anesthesia (but it is also possible under local), so I recommend consulting, if possible, only in a professional medical institution.

The technique of excision of the cervix with an ultrasonic scalpe is as follows:

1. Removing small areas of tissue. The process is very slow and careful. Doctors do not try to remove all the tissue, as this may cause cervical rupture and bleeding. It is important to clearly know which area needs to be removed and how deep to excise it using an ultrasonic scalpel.
