Diclofenac-Rivo: use, contraindications and side effects

Diclofenac-Rivo is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug that is widely used to treat various diseases associated with inflammation and pain. The drug contains the active substance - diclofenac sodium. Diclofenac-Rivo is manufactured in Switzerland by Rivopharm SA and is available in the form of film-coated enteric tablets 50 mg.

Indications for the use of Diclofenac-Rivo include inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis, as well as degenerative diseases such as deforming osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis. The drug is also effective for treating back, muscle and joint pain such as lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia and myalgia. Diclofenac-Rivo can be prescribed for the treatment of diseases of extra-articular tissues, such as tenosynovitis, bursitis and rheumatic soft tissue lesions. In addition, the drug can be used to treat postoperative pain, acute attack of gout, primary dysmenorrhea, adnexitis, migraine attacks, renal and hepatic colic, infections of the ENT organs and residual effects of pneumonia.

However, like any other medical drug, Diclofenac-Rivo has a number of contraindications and side effects. The drug is not recommended for people with hypersensitivity to diclofenac or any other component of the drug. The use of the drug is also contraindicated in cases of hematopoietic disorders, gastric and duodenal ulcers, aspirin-induced bronchial asthma, childhood (up to 6 years) and in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Possible side effects of Diclofenac-Rivo may include gastralgia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, dyspepsia, flatulence, anorexia, headache, dizziness, fatigue, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, skin rashes, urticaria, itching and burning . With long-term use and/or application to large surfaces, systemic side effects may occur due to resorptive effects. When using the drug in ophthalmology, side effects such as eye irritation, visual disturbances, eye pain and eye redness may occur.
