Dorsal funiculus

The dorsal canal is also known as the dorsal canal due to its functional importance in maintaining motor function in the spinal cord and ensuring the proper rate of transmission of sensory impulses from the skin to the brain. The dorsal branch of the nerve root consists of two sections - lumbar and sacral. In the T2 region it receives collaterals from L1, L2 and L3.
