Aiken Method of Hypopharyngoscopy

EIKEN'S METHOD OF HYPOPHARINGOSCOPY (EICKEN's method) is a method of direct examination of the posterior wall of the pharynx and larynx, based on the introduction of a special cannula into the pharynx and larynx.

EICKEN CONSTANTIN JOHANN (1874–1938) – German otorhinolaryngologist, professor. In 1903, he proposed a method of direct hypopharyngoscopy using cannulas. Since 1911, he headed the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Berlin.

HYPOPHARINGOSCOPY - examination of the posterior wall of the pharynx and hypopharynx using a special instrument - a cannula or endoscope.
