Ependimitis

The cavity formed between the arachnoid membrane of the brain and the cerebral cortex (in the cerebral hemispheres and brain stem), where the choroid plexuses are located, is called ependyma. The latter consists of epithelial layers containing ependymocytes in the cells, located along its entire length or individual cells in the form of bundles, forming nerve formations and their accumulation in the corners of the lateral ventricles (in Greek “empyema”), which turn into ependymatitis during inflammatory changes in them . Syn.: intracerebral or cerebral epithenoomas, gliohydroceles, ependymatomas.
