Esophagus Bead-shaped

A beaded esophagus is one of the symptoms of Barshon-Teschendorff syndrome. This is a hereditary disease that is characterized by shortening of the esophagus. Patients with this condition have difficulty swallowing solid foods, stomach pain, and heartburn. Treatment consists of surgery to lengthen the esophagus and improve the passage of food. Barshon Teschendorff syndrome can be either incidental to the patient or hereditary. If you suspect this disease, you should consult a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
