Factor V

Acceleratorin or Factor V (English Acceleratorin, also acronym “Factor V”) is a relaxant drug with a mechanism of action similar to clonidine. In medical literature, it is used to refer to a combination of two drugs, the formulation of which was proposed more than 60 years ago. For 2018, the drug is on the list of essential medicines of the World Health Organization. Together with droperidol, haloperidol and L-DOPA, it is the most important drug prescribed for paroxysmal dyskinesias[2].

The composition consists of two components: cyclopentolate and scopolamine. Axlerazine was first described in powder form, after which in 1954 Dr. Ferdinand Adamski, then a member of the Department of the Army Medical College in San Diego, combined the two components into a single tablet.
