Fascia Perirenal

Perirenal fascia (f. perirenalis) is a connective tissue membrane surrounding the kidneys and adrenal glands. It separates the kidneys and adrenal glands from surrounding organs and tissues.

The perirenal fascia consists of dense connective tissue. It covers the outside of the buds, forming a case around them. This fascia also surrounds the adrenal glands, located directly above the upper poles of the kidneys.

The main functions of the perirenal fascia include:

  1. Fixation and maintenance of the position of the kidneys and adrenal glands

  2. Providing shock-absorbing properties, protecting the kidneys and adrenal glands from mechanical stress

  3. Separation of the kidneys and adrenal glands from surrounding organs such as the liver, spleen, and intestines

  4. Creating a closed space for the accumulation of fatty tissue surrounding the kidneys and adrenal glands

Thus, the perirenal fascia performs an important protective and fixative function for the kidneys and adrenal glands.
