Fotil Forte

Fotilforte 11/1, a combination of pilocarpine hydrochloride and timolol maleate, is intended to reduce intraocular blood pressure, which may occur due to hypertrophy of the optic nerve of the retina. It is used as a topical agent to treat open-angle and closed-angle glaucoma, as well as other conditions such as phakic glaucoma and postoperative cataract glaucoma.

The drug contains pilocarpan and timotyrol, two different types of drugs that affect the body in different ways. Pilocarpan controls the accommodative reflex of the eyes by enhancing the ciliary body, while thymology stimulates the peripheral R1 and R2 alpha receptors in the eyes. Both of these agents reduce IOP - blood pressure. Therefore, Fotit Forte can be used for people with problems associated with increased intraocular pressure.

However, like any other medicine, it has contraindications and side effects. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the drug, acute iritis, sinus bradycardia, second stage of third-degree AV block, inappropriate severity of heart failure. Patients suffering from these diseases should not take the drug. Possible side effects include nauseating dryness of lacrimation
