Phthisiosurgery

Phthisiosurgery is a branch of surgery that deals with the treatment of respiratory diseases. It includes both operations on the chest and lungs, as well as surgical interventions on other organs and systems that may be associated with respiratory diseases.

Phthisiosurgical operations can be either emergency or planned. Emergency operations are performed for acute conditions, such as pneumothorax, atelectasis, lung abscess, bleeding from the pulmonary artery, etc. Planned operations are performed for chronic respiratory diseases, such as chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary emphysema, etc.

One of the most common operations in phthisiosurgery is thoracoscopy. This is a minimally invasive operation in which small incisions are made on the chest wall through which surgical procedures are performed using special equipment. Thoracoscopy allows operations on the lungs, pleura, diaphragm and other organs of the chest cavity without large incisions and tissue trauma.

Another important operation in phthisiosurgery is bronchoscopy. This is an endoscopic examination of the bronchi and lungs using a flexible endoscope. Bronchoscopy allows you to diagnose various diseases of the lungs and bronchi, as well as carry out therapeutic procedures, such as removal of foreign bodies, tissue biopsy, administration of medications, etc.
