Garangeau amputation is a surgical operation that involves cutting the navicular bone, followed by repositioning and attaching the foot to it. This is one of the stages of anterior shoulder dislocation syndrome, a congenital anomaly that is diagnosed in newborns. The treatment is urgent and is carried out by an experienced surgeon, who, using a special technique, applies splints to the damaged shoulder joint, plunges it back into the glenoid cavity, and firmly fixes it with plaster. This requires hospitalization for up to 3 weeks. In rare cases, the operation is performed on an outpatient basis. After repositioning the operated limb, it is necessary to provide it with rest for at least six months. Usually during this period the patient is hospitalized.
