Gastrosil

Gastrosil: an effective antiemetic

Gastrosil is a medicine produced by Humann Pharma from Germany. It belongs to the group of antiemetics and is used to treat nausea, vomiting, functional digestive disorders, reflux esophagitis, atony and hypotension of the stomach and duodenum. In addition, the drug can be used to prepare for diagnostic studies of the gastrointestinal tract.

The active ingredient of Gastrosil is metoclopramide. It has a stimulating effect on the motor function of the stomach and intestines, reduces nausea and vomiting, and also accelerates gastric emptying. The drug is available in the form of 10 mg tablets and oral drops.

Despite the effectiveness of gastrosil, it has several contraindications. These are hypersensitivity to metoclopramide, glaucoma, pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disorders. The drug is not recommended for use in the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Taking gastrosil may cause some side effects, for example, dry mouth, constipation or diarrhea, drowsiness, depression, extrapyramidal disorders (convulsive twitching of the facial muscles, disturbances in the movement of the eyeballs, protruding tongue), edema, galactorrhea, hyperprolactinemia, menstrual irregularities, hyperemia nasal mucosa and skin rashes.

It is also worth considering the possible interaction of gastrosil with other drugs. For example, the effect of the drug may weaken anticholinesterase drugs, and antipsychotics may increase the likelihood of developing extrapyramidal disorders. Gastrosil also enhances the sedative effect of sleeping pills and alcohol.

In case of an overdose of gastrosil, symptoms of hypersomnia, disorientation, and extrapyramidal disorders may occur. In such cases, it is necessary to stop taking the drug and, if necessary, prescribe anticholinergic and antiparkinsonian drugs.

It is important to remember that gastrosil can reduce concentration and increase reaction time, so during the treatment period it is recommended to refrain from driving a car and working with potentially dangerous equipment. It is also not recommended to drink alcohol during
