Heteroploidy

Heteroploidy is a type of hereditary variation in a cell in which the set of chromosomes (genetic material) differs from diploid (two haploid sets of chromosomes) by one or more haploid sets. Genetically, a heteroploid cell is any cell in which the number or structure of chromosomes differs from the haploids of diploids, although both are composed of the same pair of homologous chromosomes. The name comes from ancient Greek, where “hetero” means different; "ploidy" - doubled
