Gidrea

Hydrea (Hydroxycarbamide) is a synthetic antitumor agent belonging to various groups of antitumor drugs. Hydrea is manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb companies in the United States, Italy and Germany.

Hydrea is used to treat various types of cancer, such as myeloid leukemia, lymphoblastic leukemia, osteomyelofibrosis, erythremia, thrombocytosis in the myeloproliferative syndrome program, melanoma, head and neck tumors, metastases of breast and gastric cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine chorionic carcinoma, cervical cancer, etc. It can also be used to improve the effectiveness of radiation therapy.

Hydrea is available in the form of capsules containing 500 mg of the active ingredient - Hydroxycarbamide. It can cause side effects such as myelosuppression, dyspeptic disorders, stomatitis, fever, headaches, dizziness, disorientation, hallucinations, interstitial nephritis, hyperuricemia, increased serum transaminases, alopecia, facial erythema, maculopapular rashes and others.

When prescribing Hydrea to patients, caution should be exercised, especially when treating the elderly and children, as well as in patients who have previously received radiation or cytostatic therapy. Before starting treatment, correction of severe anemia is recommended. During treatment, regular blood tests are required, as well as dynamic monitoring of the levels of uric acid, creatinine, and transaminases. Patients should also drink enough fluids during treatment.

Hydrea may interact with other drugs, increasing the myelotoxicity of drugs that suppress bone marrow function, as well as increasing the risk of developing nephropathy when co-administered with uricosuric drugs. When combined with antidepressants, antihistamines, sedatives, sleeping pills, narcotic drugs and alcohol, the inhibition of the reaction rate increases.

Overall, Hydrea is an effective anticancer drug that can be prescribed to treat various types of cancer. However, its use should be carried out only under the supervision of a physician and in compliance with all recommendations and precautions in order to avoid side effects and possible complications. Patients prescribed Hydrea should undergo regular examinations and follow-up tests to assess the effectiveness of treatment and promptly identify any adverse reactions to the drug.
