Hypovolemia, Oligemia

Hypovolaemia and Oligaemia are two terms that describe a decrease in the volume of blood circulating in the body. Both of these conditions can result from various causes, and both can lead to serious consequences for a person's health.

Hypovolemia is a condition in which fluid levels in the body are reduced to such an extent that the circulatory system cannot provide normal circulation. This may occur due to blood loss, pulmonary edema, burns, excessive sweating, or diarrhea. When hypovolemia occurs, blood flow slows, which can lead to cardiac arrest and death.

Oligemia is a condition in which the level of fluid in the blood decreases, but not to such an extent as to lead to hypovolemia. Oligemia can occur due to dehydration and also in certain diseases such as renal failure, anemia and diabetes. With oligemia, the blood becomes thicker and may not circulate well throughout the body, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Treatment of hypovolemia and oligemia depends on the cause of these conditions. In some cases, blood or intravenous fluid transfusions may be required. In other cases, medication may be necessary to balance fluid levels in the body.

In general, hypovolemia and oligemia are serious conditions that require medical attention. If you suspect that you or someone you love is suffering from hypovolemia or oligemia, contact your doctor immediately for help.
