Grigoriev's dysentery

Grigoriev's dysentery, otherwise known as Shigi, is a life-threatening intestinal disease caused by the specific pathogen Shigella dysenteriae type 1 (Shiga-bacterium Grigoriev-Shigi). The disease is characterized by an acute and severe course, complicated by the possible development of coma. In most cases it is successfully treated, but has a high mortality rate in case of delayed therapy.
