Hernia repair

Hernia repair or herniotomy is a surgical operation to remove a hernia. Hernia is the exit of part of the organs from the abdominal cavity through weakened areas of the abdominal wall, most often along the sheath of one of the broad abdominal muscles - the inguinal ligament, at the level from the scrotum to the hypochondrium in cryptorchidism.

Among all emergency operations, hernia repair ranks first in terms of the frequency of interventions performed and the large number of complications arising in the postoperative period. Currently, approximately 5% of the population suffers from various types of hernias. Usually these are people whose professional activities involve physical activity or harmful working conditions. For adolescents, this type of operation is performed less and less often and only in adolescents of a very severe nature, in cases of congenital anomalies of the abdominal organs, repeated operations and recurrent abdominal wall hernias.
