Helmintox: use, side effects and special instructions

Helmintox is a drug from the group of drugs used for intestinal helminthiasis. It is produced by Innotec International in France and contains the active substance pyrantel. Helmintox is available in several dosage forms, including 125 mg and 250 mg tablets, as well as an oral suspension.

This drug is used to treat various types of helminths, including ascariasis, enterobiasis, oxyurosis, hookworm disease, necatoriasis and trichuriasis. However, before using it, you must make sure that there are no contraindications, such as hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, liver failure or pregnancy.

Like any medicine, Helmintox may cause side effects. Some of the most common adverse reactions include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and skin rash. If you notice any of these effects, contact your doctor.

It is also necessary to take into account the interaction of Helmintox with other drugs. The simultaneous use of Helmintox with levamisole and piperazine is not recommended. In addition, Helmintox may increase plasma theophylline concentrations.

If signs of overdose occur, such as increased severity of side effects, you should immediately seek medical help. Treatment may include gastric lavage and monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular function.

After completing the course of treatment with Helmintox, it is necessary to conduct a control examination of the stool for the presence of helminths.
