Heteroplasty

“Heteroplasty” is a rare human surgical pathology, characterized by the presence in the patient of tissues, organs of a foreign nature or types different from the species to which he genetically belongs. Described by the German anatomist Johann Dietrich and the Austrian surgeon Johann Jacob Reus in 1842.

A heteroplastic organ is the result of tissue heteroplasia. The appearance of foreign parts in the body occurs through the following mechanisms:

organ ablation – a normal organ is absent due to a violation of its development and is replaced, as a rule, by other organs: heart-head, epicardium-spleen.

organ implantation
