Impetigo of the mucous membranes

Mucosal impetigo is an acute non-infectious inflammatory disease of the skin and mucous membranes.

Impetigo is also called superficial impetiginating vulvovaginitis. The disease is widespread among all age groups in children and adults.

Among women under 45 years of age, primary cases of the disease predominate, and in people over 75 years of age, secondary forms predominantly occur.

Description of the disease

Characteristic manifestations of impetiginosis 1. Most often, the lower parts of the mucous membranes adjacent to the skin of the anus and perianal area are affected, then the labia majora, cervix, and posterior wall of the vagina. 2. In men, the transitional fold between the inner surface of the foreskin and the head of the penis is affected. Impetiginous bullous dermatitis of the head of the penis is sometimes observed. 3. Fungal infection covers small folds of the mucous membranes of the lips, tongue, soft palate, and back of the tongue; less often - the larynx, the mouths of the excretory ducts of the salivary glands. The lesion is found on the navel, conjunctiva of the eyes, and paranasal sinuses. 4. The lesion is fixed on the mucous membrane or skin of the mouth, less often on the scalp, skin of the hands. In other cases, the genital area, perineum and anus are affected.
